The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has redesigned its teacher recruitment website, TeachMS.org, that markets the teaching profession in Mississippi while breaking down the teacher preparation and licensure process into easy-to-understand steps.

Anyone interested in becoming a teacher is advised to explore the website to learn about how to get started. The website includes a quiz to help potential teachers find the licensure pathway that fits their background, an interactive salary schedule, and links to job listings in the new Mississippi Educator Career Continuum Archive (MECCA) Talent Portal. It also includes highlights about the benefits of teaching in Mississippi, including incentives for teachers and the state’s No. 2 national ranking for affordability.

Our first episode features Dr. Rod Henderson sharing an extended version of his superintendent message to the students, faculty members, staff, parents and Brookhaven School District Community.

Dr. Henderson is interviewed by Orionna Coleman. Coleman is an alumna of the Brookhaven School District (class of 2012). She and her husband Kris Coleman (class of 2009 alum) work in partnership with the district to produce media (podcast shows, promotional videos and more) under their business, Stori Studios, LLC.

Dr. Henderson is now in his 6th year as the Superintendent of the Brookhaven School District. He reflects on the last 5 years and sets the goal of continued excellence as he leads our district. From day one, his goal has been to focus on the process, not the final product. If you do that, everything else will take care of itself.

"We are the premiere choice in this area for the educational experience. Our educational offerings are second to none." said Dr. Henderson. "The diverse offerings that we have (i.e. sports, clubs, CTE schools, and more) is something for everyone. There is a place for your child to strive and to be successful within the Brookhaven School District."

Students will not be allowed to attend school until registration is complete.
