Child Find

The Brookhaven School District is participating in an ongoing statewide effort to identify, locate, and evaluate children ages birth through twenty-one who are physically, mentally, communicatively, and/or emotionally disabled. Please find the enclosed Child Find Literature to share with parents or other interested persons.  There are many services available to parents and their disabled children.  With your help, we can be sure that the parents are aware of these services.

The Brookhaven School District serves children with disabilities from ages three through twenty-one. There are various placements for children with disabilities, including homebound instruction, preschool services, elementary classes, junior high classes, life skills/community involvement program, a functional skills/vocational preparation program and a diploma program.

I serve as the Child Find Coordinator for Brookhaven School District. The staff at the Office of Special Education implement child identification, location, and evaluation or children ages birth through 21 who are disabled and are in need of special education and related services.  I assist in having the child evaluated and placed in an appropriate special education program according to procedures established by the State Department of Education.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance to you or to any individual with whom you come in contact.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Triplett
