The Federal Government has allocated monies (ESSER FUNDS-Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) to address the impact that the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools. This money has been set aside to help schools with purchasing technology, distance learning needs, health and safety resources, learning loss, etc. The following is information on the plans for the money allotted to the Brookhaven School District. The plans may be amended as other needs arise.

ESSER 1 - $919,991.00
  • Chromebooks for grades 3- 12
  • Personal Protective Equipment for students and staff.
  • Cleaning supplies for disinfection of classrooms, buses, and other facilities.
  • Technology (E-learning software, canvas, etc.)
  • Contract with KDMC for the school nurse at BHS.
  • Families First Coronavirus Response Act Covid Leave Payments

ESSER 2 - $3,332,522.00
  • Summer Enrichment Programs
  • Social-Emotional Learning Programs
  • Chromebooks for Grade K-2
  • Covid- Safety Officer
  • E-Learning
  • Personal Protective Equipment for students and staff.
  • Cleaning supplies for disinfection of classrooms, buses, and other facilities.
  • 3 Paraprofessionals for Learning Loss
  • 3 Teachers at High School for Leaning Loss (State Tested Subjects)
  • Air Quality Improvement project – Ductwork at all BSD campuses.
  • Water Bottle Fillers

ESSER 3 (ARP) - $7,484,372.00
  • 20% Going to Learning Loss through – Summer School, Tutoring, Paraprofessionals, Teachers in tested subjects and the purchase of intervention software and materials.
  • School Improvement projects in air quality and touchless bathroom facilities.
  • E-learning as well as technology staff to facilitate new computers and hardware.
  • Personal Protective Equipment for students and staff.
  • Cleaning supplies for disinfection of classrooms, buses, and other facilities.
