Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements in accordance with the District.

2. Plans for and guides the learning process to help students achieve objectives.

a. Plans lessons that demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy.

b. Plans lessons that meet the diversity of students backgrounds, cultures, skills, learning levels, language, interests and special needs.

c. Selects goals aligned to the curriculum and promote higher order thinking.

d. Collects and organizes data to inform instruction.

e. Demonstrates content knowledge.

3. Maintain an educational atmosphere that is conducive to learning, giving the students every opportunity to improve their cognitive capabilities.

4. Implements useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures that can help determine how each student is improving.

5. Selects and uses effective instructional methods and learning materials consistent with the student’s individualized educational plan.

6. Keeps an open line of communication with the parents or guardians.

7. Participates in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job related knowledge and skill development.

8. Meets all behavior standards as set by Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics.

9. Meets expectations outlined in the District Instructional Management Plan including the Response to Intervention Program.

10. Works collaboratively with other teachers, assistants and the building principal.

11. Works collaboratively with the Individualized Educational Team to develop each student’s IEP assigned.

12. Maintains an IEP for each student in the SEAS database.

13. Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements in accordance with the District.

14. Keeps an open line of communication with the parents or guardians, teachers, principals, and director.

15. Participates in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job related knowledge and skill development.

16. Meets all behavior standards as set by Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics.

17. Meets expectations outlined in the District Instructional Management Plan including the Response to Intervention Program.

18. Participate in Professional Learning opportunities

19. Performs any other duties as outlined by the Principal and/or Director of Special Education.
Benefits
Salary work year and benefits to be established by the School Board.
Requirements
1. Valid Mississippi teaching certificate with endorsement in area of assignment

2. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
